Says it all really! Sunshine and cornflour. I gave the kids a bag of cornflour to play with the other day and they had a ball to say the least. This winter sunshine has been truly glorious and we've been pretty much living outside. Honestly, we really do live in one of the best places on Earth. So here we are getting messy (again). Gracie even said to me, while she squelched water, corn flour and lentils between her fingers, "This feels so relaxing Mummy". Mission accomplished.
We have quite recently discovered a wonderful enchanted place full of fairies, tigers, bears, crocodiles and lots and lots of sticks, I mean music makers. We call it, The Forrest.
Otherwise known as the Wanneroo Pine Plantation, this place has become one of Gracie's especially, favourite places to play and explore. It's been amazing seeing how she is becoming more and more comfortable with playing here each time we visit. Gracie and I came just the two of us the first time we visited and I found she was slightly hesitant at first. But after only 15 minutes, she relaxed and her imagination set off. The Forrest is unlike any other space we generally play in. Most parks are very structured and ordered (although this is starting to change with all the nature playgrounds popping up) and sometimes this structure can limit their imaginations. But in here, Gracie and Ollie's imaginations can run free to do and be whatever they want.
Most of the time we are the only ones there, except maybe for the odd person walking their dog. It is a place full of endless possibilities. And fairies. Lots of fairies.
I encourage you, when was the last time you and/or your kids explored somewhere new? Stopped the car just because you saw something interesting? Played with sticks, built a forte, hide and seek, took your shoes off, jumped in mud? Go on, give it a go. You never know what you'll discover!
