The Cake!

Thought I'd share some of the photos we took during the cake covering process. Daniel and I captured it on camera when we decorated Ollie's Old Macdonald's farm birthday cake. It was rather epic, I must be honest! Ha! Oh well, it was fun and we'll always remember it!

First we coated the cake with a thin layer of ganache to stick the fondent layer to, so it doesn't slip.

Quality control - the ganache not the help.

Here comes the exciting part!

Ollie turns ONE!

I can't believe it! My little Oliver is one! We celebrated a couple of weeks ago with a BBQ lunch at home with the family and some close friends. It was a truly joyous occasion. Ollie thoroughly enjoyed himself with plenty of food and plenty of people doting on him all afternoon, it was just what a little boy deserves for his very special first birthday. We had decorated with an Old Macdonald's farm theme in mind and I had my heart set on making Ollie a very special Old Macdonald's cake. After spending many evenings creating the fondent animals and the barn and with some help from Unky Dan Dan to cover the cakes a couple of night's before the party, this was the final product. Pretty proud of myself, just quietly!

Ollie helping himself to some crackers and dip - oops! Crisis averted!

Time to sing and blow out that candle!

Gracie samples the cake - quality control!

Thankyou everyone who came and made Ollie's birthday such a special day.
