Sun, beach, good friends... what more could you ask for?

Gracie and I were invited to go to the beach this morning by our good friends Aimee and Rahni. We were down there early and for a while, we were the only ones on the beach - bliss! It warmed up quick but the water was so lovely and cool. We played, we swam and we played some more and it didn't take long before we were all crumbed sausages. Mid morning it was time for Rahni and Aimee to head home but just as they were leaving, we saw Tash, Troy and their two gorgeous girls, Sienna and Amelia. YAY more friends for us to play with! And so that we did, until almost lunch time, when it was time to come home for a sleep, satisfiabley all sun, sand and played out! Thank you, dear friends, for an almost perfect morning!

Kadie's 21st Birthday

My cousin Kadie turned 21 this weekend and to celebrate, the family threw her a big party. So Dad and I left Friday lunch time for a whirl wind 2 night trip to Albany (Gracie stayed home with daddy for the weekend). Kadie knew there was going to be a big party but there was one important detail she was unaware of... her 21st birthday present from all the family... a pure bred Great Dane Puppy!

Kadie has been looking at buying one for some time but as you can imagine, they are rather expensive. So the family thought we'd all chip in and spoil our beloved Kadie. Dad and I went out to meet the breeders and this eat-me-up-adorable little puppy. She is only 3.5 weeks old so not yet weaned but we wanted to take some pictures so we had something to show Kadie on her birthday.

The family spent the day cooking food and setting everything up ready for 50+ guests to arrive in the afternoon.

Even Tara, who is so ugly she's beautiful, wanted to help!

Let the celebrations commence...

Uncle Steve gets the BBQ cranked. Not sure what was so shocking! haha

Kadie has no idea what she is unfolding!

Hugs for her Mum and Dad.

Grumpy Pants

Yesterday afternoon, I accidently put on my grumpy pants. Don't know why, but they somehow made it on. You know, no matter how hard you try to stay patient and calm (all the time) as a mum, sometimes you just gotta wear your grumpy pants. Cleaning up, cooking dinner, scraping playdough off the floor, all while someone else was wearing their whingy pants, does not make for a very happy mummy. And then little miss whingy pants goes and does this...

"Mummy Look!"

Gracie put her shoes on all by herself for the first time- and they were even on the correct feet!

It's moments like these that remind me to take off my grumpy pants. The dishes don't have to be done right now. Dinner can wait a few more minutes. The dried playdough isn't going anywhere. Just stop.

Mummy look!

Pants Hat

This is how I found Gracie, after I had got out of the shower this morning. She had gone into my wardrobe, got out my pyjama pants and decided that wearing them on her head was definately the best way they should be worn. She proceeded to wear them on her head for about 10 minutes while she continued playing, as if this was completely normal. I don't know? Maybe she's onto something? Then again... maybe not.

Eric Comes to Play

My little cousin Eric is almost 4. After he finished school yesterday, my uncle Cliff brought Eric over for a visit and a play date with Gracie. After 20 minutes or so, of Gracie sussing him out, they happily played for the next 2 hours. We haven't seen Cliff and Eric since Christmas so it took her a little while before she felt confident to join Eric in his games. I find it really interesting watching Gracie play and how she adapts to the different ways, different kids play. She tends to stand back at first and observe and then once she has it sussed out, she'll join in.

So different to me. I tend to just dive in head first. Although watching Gracie, I see a wisdom in what she does and how she interacts with people. I wonder if I've always been like that? Actually, thinking about it, I know I haven't. I wonder how Gracie will change as she grows? I wonder what experiences and influences will shape her personality and how she interacts with the world?

But for now, I just enjoy watching her and capturing those special moments as she grows. Oh to be a kid again!

Oh Baby!

We had the privilege of making a great big fuss over my wonderful friend Brooke on the weekend and her soon to arrive, little bundle of joy. We still don't know if it will be a boy or a girl (although if you speak to Brooke's mum, there is no question, it WILL be a girl).

We decorated the house in teal, white and silver, as is the new nursery for Brooke's baby. We had around 45 guests join us in doting over Brooke and showering her with many, MANY presents. This is one VERY spoilt little baby, but really, who would have it any other way?

We drank, we ate, we played and after 3 hours I think we all felt that the showering was a complete success. I hope you enjoyed every moment of it Chooky, we love you to pieces!

Brooke and her beautiful mum, Lori.

Brooke gets in some cuddle practice.

It was all just a little bit too much for some!

Guess how big is Brooke's Belly?

Brooke asked all the guests, instead of buying cards, to buy Mr Men books and write a message inside for the baby. What a great idea!

Ruth won the "Guess the number of Jelly babies" competition. She was within 15 Jelly babies. It goes to show, maths always wins, hey Ruth?
